at Lavender Gate Farm
This beautiful property, owned by Willem and Caroline van Zanten, is situated only 4 kilometres from the historical village of Wollombi. Set amongst formal gardens framed with french lavender The Gate Gallery and Defiance Sculpture Park are the perfect spot to visit or break your journey. You can wander through rows of lavender and explore the gardens and sculptures at your leisure. Over 2000 lavender plants are currently cultivated, taking up an area of over an acre. There is also a garden dedicated to rare and unusual lavender varieties.
The Gate Gallery and Defiance Sculpture Park are open from 10.00 until 3.00 Friday through to Monday, or by appointment.
You will find contemporary works by Australian and European artists alongside paintings by renowned indigenous artists including Kudditji Kngwarrye, Betty Mbitjama, Gloria Petyarre and Violet Petyarre. Four major contemporary exhibitions are held each year.
