At Lavender Gate Farm you can wander through rows of lavender and explore the gardens at your leisure. Over 2000 lavender plants are currently cultivated, taking up an area of over an acre. There is also a garden dedicated to rare and unusual lavender varieties.
Three varieties of lavender are grown at Lavender Gate Farm for harvesting purposes. They were selected for their high yield, hardiness, scent, colour and oil content. As lavender is highly drought tolerant and is suited to arid dry climates the Hunter Valley was chosen specifically for its low rainfall levels soil and overall climate.
Lavandula Dentata 'Candicans' is grown for fresh flowers
Lavandula x Intermedia 'Miss Donnington' is grown for fresh, dried and 'stripped' flowers. It is also a suitable cultivar for essential oil production.
Lavandula x intermedia 'Grosso' is grown for dried flower production.
